Artist Statement
Driven by a desire to express and articulate what I feel, think, and experience, my work remains mainly inspired by the relationship between mind and body. My own relationship with my mind and body is complicated, and I use my works to heal as well as to show others who face challenges similar to mine that they are not alone in either of these regards. Through my works, I strive to break down barriers surrounding issues of mental health and to convey the inherent beauty of the human body.
Throughout my portfolio, between both my line and value works and my works of the human figure, I utilize detail, repetition, and expressionism to show the feelings and experiences I want to convey. In this way, I find that I can show myself while also allowing room for others to see themselves reflected in my works. While pursuing art, I always do my best to show compassion through my advocacy.
