Webelos Woods/AOL Adventures Patch

A local Scouts BSA council, the Pacific Harbors Council, wanted a design that could be used for both a patch and a logo for their first “Webelos Woods/AOL Adventures” overnight camp. Their parameters were that they wanted the colors to be pulled from the flyer they had created for the event and that there must be included the name of the event and the Council name.

Using the font Tahoma as a starting point, I manipulated the anchor points to create unique letters that fit together seamlessly. These final letters, “W” and “A,” represent the Webelos and Arrow of Light scout ranks who are in attendance to the event, as well as pointing to the state in which their council resides: Washington State. Since it is an overnight camp, I included elements such as a tent, a flashlight, and the Big Dipper constellation, as well as trees to point to this being an outdoor camp event. Each element was made originally by me. The final design is simple, yet detailed, and fun for older and younger audiences alike. The font used for the name of the event and the Counsil name, as well as year, was All Round Gothic by Adobe.
